Delighted to be speaking again at Adobe ColdFusion Summit 2023

I'm delighted to announce that I've been selected to speak again (for the 11th straight year) at the upcoming Adobe CF Summit conference, to be held in Las Vegas October 2-3.

I'll be offering my traditional "Hidden Gems in ColdFusion 2023" talk.

And see the conference web site for other speakers and their Summit sessions (with more to come).

Besides just being a great conference (in terms of content as well as meeting fellow attendees, Adobe folks, and vendors), which is being offered in-person only and at a VERY reasonable price of only US$199, the Summit is also a great chance for folks to pursue Adobe CF Certification (offered both online and in a separate one-day workshop the day after the conference, Oct 4, for just $100 more).

Note also that qualified students can attend the Summit for free. That's a great nod to Adobe supporting CF in higher education and among emerging developers.

Presenting "CF Scheduled Tasks: more than you may know, and should" at Hawaii CF Meetup, Jul 28

On Jul 28 at 6pm US Eastern, I'll be offering this talk (online) on the Hawaii ColdFusion Meetup (hosted by John Barrett). For more on the topic and its motivation, read on.

Delighted to be speaking at CFCamp 2023

I'm delighted to announce that I've been selected to speak at CFCamp 2023, in Munich this June. This will be my 7th year in a row presenting at this wonderful event (not counting when it was skipped in 2020-22), and my 8th year total.

(While I said "thrilled" about my previous two conference announcements, saying "delighted" here is not a downgrade. Just a desire not to sound repetitive!)

My talk will be...

I'm thrilled to announce that I've been asked to present again at the Adobe ColdFusion Summit East 2023, a free one-day conference being held in Washington DC on Apr 6, at the Marriott Marquis.

For more on the event, my talk, and how this means I have to skip attending/speaking at DevNexus the same week, read on.

Thrilled to be presenting at Devnexus 2023

I'm thrilled to announce that I've been selected as a speaker at Devnexus 2023, the long-running professional developer conference held in Atlanta. If you may not be familiar with it, I'll talk about the event a bit more below, as well as offer a discount code to attend.

As for my session, it will be "Transitioning to Java 17 from 11 or 8 for Admins":

I'll be presenting at the online CFMeetup, on Adobe's 'new' CFSetup tool, useful for any CF version

This topic may (should) interest folks using CF2021 or even OLDER CF versions. Did you know there's a command line tool to help view/manage as well as export/import CF Admin settings? I will be presenting a talk on this, Thursday. Anyone can attend online.

Folks who are members of the Online ColdFusion Meetup that I run will already have gotten notification about this, but those who are not:

I'll be presenting at Adobe CF Summit 2022, and marking some anniversaries

I'm delighted to have been selected again to speak at October's Adobe ColdFusion Summit 2022 conference, which is being held in-person again finally--in Vegas as before. After I share the news of that talk, I want to also note some anniversaries related to this event and my session.

Presenting tomorrow on comparing CF docker images, at IntotheBox Precon

Just a heads-up to my readers that I'll be giving a talk tomorrow (Thurs, Sep 1 at noon Eastern) on "Comparing and contrasting Docker images from Ortus, Adobe, and Lucee", at the Into the Box "pre-conference" event.

Update 9/1/22: the recording was posted. I'll link to it in the discussion about getting access to those (not free, for now).

The preconference sessions (like the full conference sessions next week) are NOT free, but they ARE available to anyone who signs up for the conference, which is just $99 (until midnight Sep 6) for a virtual pass, giving you access to over 30 sessions on all kinds of content related to CF, CFML, Lucee, and web technology. More in a moment about finding more on those sessions and accessing recordings, which ARE included in that virtual event ticket.

First, as for my talk, it will be:

My presentation will open CF DevWeek this week: CF, more modern than most realize

I'll be presenting, "Hidden gems in CF2021, a year later", at Adobe CF Summit 2021

Just a heads up, for any who may be interested to hear: I will be one of the presenters at the upcoming Adobe ColdFusion Summit 2021 in December, being held again online this year.

Update: The session recordings were posted at the Adobe CF portal videos page, and the link to my talk is here: https://video.tv.adobe.com/v/339406.

My talk will be a reprisal and update of my traditional "hidden gems" talk, this one focused especially on things that have changed since the initial release of ColdFusion 2021 (and my talk at last year's Summit):

Hidden gems in CF2021, a year later

It's been a year since the release of CF 2021, and also since Charlie Arehart offered his "hidden gems" talk at last year's CF Summit. Perhaps you caught his talk then, or not, and maybe you've started using the release--or still have not. Either way, there've been a number of updates as well as some changes in features since the release. In this updated talk, Charlie helps both audiences consider aspects of ColdFusion 2021 that they may have missed.
Registration at the event is free, via the conference site, and the other couple of dozen sessions (in two tracks) are all listed there now. "See" you there. :-)
