Presenting "Debugging & Error Handling in ColdFusion" today, online for CF DevWeek
I want to announce here that I will be offering the first talk of the week: "Debugging and Error Handling in ColdFusion". Read on for more.
That topic is one that Adobe chose and asked me to present, and I'm happy to do it. Many people often miss out on certain key aspects of even such a fundamental topic. Indeed, we only have an hour so I'll cover a LOT of ground. The sessions are recorded. As I note in the portal post, Adobe has said they will notify those who register of the recording link. (I don't yet know if/when it will be made public.)
The session is online today, at 1230 US Eastern (the Adobe site lists the times as PDT--pacific time).
"Debugging and Error Handling in ColdFusion"
PDF (recording url will be offered if/when made available by Adobe)When you're developing applications (in cfml or any language), errors are inevitable. Some may be due to your mistakes while others may arise out of unintended flow through code. Still others may be due to recent configuration changes, updates to CF, and more. Finding such errors is the first challenge, followed by diagnosing and resolving them.
In this session, veteran CF troubleshooter Charlie Arehart will present a broad overview and quick demonstrations of key features of CF and related tools/techniques for solving such problems, to help new CF developers get going more quickly and effectively. He'll also conclude with links to several resources offering more details on each topic covered.
Again, Adobe wants people to register (see the links above), and would then share the link to attend the Connect session, and then they say they would share with registrants the links to the recordings of the sessions. We can't know for show how things will work, especially since mine is the first hour-long session of the week.
But I have heard from people already that they're having trouble either registering, or scheduling sessions, and some have not even gotten the link to the session. I wanted to abide by Adobe's desire for people to do that to get the links, but given that my session is the first one today, I want to go ahead and offer here the link for the Connect room (at least that was used yesterday for the first day-long session, and I assume it will be the same): https://my.adobeconnect.com/coldfusionroom/
We can quibble about whether Adobe should require such registration for a DevWeek promoting better practices, just like we can quibble about many things. This is not the place for that. Hope you'll join the talk and/or that you enjoy the rest of the week's sessions. Again, see the links above with more info on that.
