"Charlie, we'd like to buy CF. Are you an Adobe reseller?"
Note: This blog post is from 2019. Some content may be outdated--though not necessarily. Same with links and subsequent comments from myself or others. Corrections are welcome, in the comments. And I may revise the content as necessary.I've had clients ask the above question over the years, including today. The short answer is "no", but I do have a recommendation of who you should consider buying CF from, at a discount, and with other benefits.
So I thought I'd put the answer that I offer here for everyone to read--in case it may help others who may (or may not) otherwise think to ask me in the future. :-)
So first, thanks for asking, but I'm in fact NOT an Adobe reseller. Instead, I'd recommend to you Intergral, the makers of FusionReactor, who ARE also Adobe ColdFusion resellers.
In fact, they have a dedicated site for buying CF: buy-adobe-software.com. It's offered also as a link off the footer of that fusion-reactor.com site, if you may ever forget it.
They offer there clear pricing for CF (Standard or Enterprise, upgrades or full licenses, and more), and all at a discount off what Adobe would charge, sometimes with a bundled discount for FR also.
Yet another benefit of buying from them (vs Adobe) is that if you may decide you need to "backwards license" a purchase of CF2018 to use it with CF2016 for some reason, note that you CANNOT do that with a license you buy from the Adobe CF site, but you CAN do that with a license bought from a reseller, like Intergral. Odd, I know, but it's an important benefit worth noting.1
Hope that's helpful. And if you may have any challenges setting things up, let me know. I help people daily with installing, configuring, administering, tuning, troubleshooting, securing, and otherwise helping keep CF (and related engines and servers/services) going strong.
1: To be clear, this is the direct answer given to me by Adobe when I asked about this in July 2018 on their blog post about backward licensing of CF2016 from 2018). Since you have to be logged in to see replies (also odd), I will quote their reply here:
"Charlie, You can buy CF2018 from a re-seller and email us the order details at [email protected] to get CF2016 keys. The licenses purchased from adobe.com are treated as "Retail" and are not eligible for backward licensing."
I realize this was not the specific question asked here, but it's an important benefit of buying from a reseller, so I felt worth drawing out here.
