What's the situation with ColdFusion and Java 7, Java 6 updates, Windows 8, and OS X Mountain Lion?

Note: This blog post is from 2012. Some content may be outdated--though not necessarily. Same with links and subsequent comments from myself or others. Corrections are welcome, in the comments. And I may revise the content as necessary.
I see the above questions all the time on lists, forums, twitter, etc., and while I point out the following when I see them, I wanted to share them here as well, in case others have missed them or might find them by searching.

Adobe has addressed each (plans for Java 7 support, as well as permitting us to run more recent Java 6 updates, and plans for Windows 8 and OS X Mountain Lion) in respective entries of the Adobe CF blog. These are not new but from earlier this year:

There have been no new posts on these points since then that I have seen, but do see more recent comments from Adobe and others (and feel free to add to the conversation) at the bottom of both entries.

And I'm sure we'll hear more from Adobe about them all soon, as the indications about new installers were that they'd be coming by now or soon (based on projections made when they were written).

What about a new CF10 installer?

Another natural question along the same lines is when Adobe might come out with a new CF10 installer, to roll up the now 6 updaters, and especially the mandatory update, which we must apply first. There have been no blog entries on that yet, but it's reasonable to suspect that when the new installer comes supporting the above, it would roll up the updaters.

Do follow the CF blog, and how to get them by email

Finally, I'll note that that Adobe CF blog is something I recommend everyone follow closely.

And if you don't have any sort of RSS reader, note that while they don't offer an email subscription option, you can follow it (or any blog or RSS-fed page) by email using the free blogtrottr service. (You can also follow the @coldfusion account on twitter, though that covers far more than just the blog entry releases.)
