CFMeetup: Thinking about Server Performance (View video, Show Description) Only a week after your site goes live your client rings you to say that customers are complaining that the site is too slow. A big advertising campaign is booked to go out next week, and what are you going to do about it? Didn't you tell us the performance was fine? (Of course you did some performance tests - well, you got the whole development team to fill in forms and follow links for half an hour on the staging server and nothing seemed to be too slow then - it must be the hosting companies' fault...) You're not alone. A lot of web sites go live without performance testing, either from a false sense of security created by snappy response times in development, a lack of testable performance requirements or not knowing how to translate development response times into production performance. As evidenced by the growing number of high profile Internet service performance stumbles in the last few years, something has to change. In this presentation Robin will describe how to specify performance requirements, and how to relate them to single-user response times in development. To do this he will introduce you to an easy-to-use spreadsheet based on a branch of mathematics called queueing theory that he originally developed while working as a support engineer at Allaire. But more importantly, he will convince you that performance is critical to the success of server applications, and that predicting and fixing performance issues is much easier than you think. CFMeetup: Getting Your Workload Under Control: Using Mylyn/Tasktop in CFEclipse/CFBuilder (View video, Show Description) Developers are currently facing a crisis of productivity. They're spending more time on meta-work (e.g., searching, handling interruptions, communicating, switching applications, etc.) than on actual work (e.g., editing code, testing, debugging, etc.). This talk will focus on eliminating many of the common time-wasters from the developers' day by using Mylyn (Open Source Framework) or Tasktop (Commercial Extension). We'll discuss how bringing tasks into the IDE saves time and enables task-specific views of source code. These and other highlights, demonstrated in commonly used ColdFusion IDEs, will give developers a roadmap to optimize their own workday and leave work on time. The talk will be an altered version of the talk that I gave at cfObjective, likely with more demo and less slides, depending on the feedback from that talk. A project's JavaScript code can get out of hand and become unorganized very quickly. Fortunately, we have tools like Backbone.js to give structure and MVC to our web applications. In this session, we'll look at how to use Backbone.js to populate and save models, utilize and re-use views, properly use pub/sub, include jQuery templates, interface with 3rd party APIs and build mobile applications. About "no description"

If there's "no description available", it's just that the submitter didn't offer one. It could be that there simply was none they could offer, or they didn't know where to find one. I don't want to hamper people submitting presentations by forcing them to come up with descriptions. The field is there if they have one to offer. In the future, I'll enable a mechanism for folks to offer comments on each presentation, and from those I would gladly update the description (or allow the submitter to).

Are you looking for downloadable versions of these recordings? I'm afraid that's not something I can control for most of these recordings. TO be clear, this UGTV resource is just a repository of *links* to recordings (which can be posted by anyone at all). I do not host the *recordings*. I only offer a place to point to them in an organized fashion.
